Ten o’clock Club Art Exhibit
At DAAC Arts & Cultural Center in June
On the tenth of each month at ten o’clock in the morning, a group of artists gather to exchange ideas, note progress and encourage each other to spend at least ten minutes every day making art. They call themselves “The Ten O’clock Club” and their work is on display from June 3 – 27 at the Doña Ana Arts & Cultural Center gallery, 1740 Calle de Mercado in Mesilla. An artists’ opening reception is June 8 from 4 – 7 p.m. during the Second Saturday 10–10 Arts Hop. The reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibit, titled “TENsion”, explores the balance between competing forces in the environment and shows a variety of work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, pastels, clay and found objects. Ten O’clock Club members who are part of this exhibit are Dani Anderson, Jan Archey, Diana Ayres, Margaret Bernstein, Christina Campbell, Kathleen Deasy, Alice Dressler, Penny Duncklee, Jeannie Melvin, Jean Smith, Debra Vance, and Mary Zawacki.
The exhibit is available for viewing from June 3 through June 28, 2019 at the Doña Ana Arts & Cultural Center located at 1740 Calle de Mercado in Mesilla during regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and during special events. For more information, visit the website www.daarts.org or call the Doña Ana Arts Council at 575-523-6403.
Each month, the Doña Ana Arts Council features a regional artist or group of artists in the Arts & Cultural Center gallery and holds an opening reception in conjunction with the Second Saturday 10–10 Arts Hop, an opportunity to visit multiple galleries in Las Cruces and Mesilla over a 12-hour period. A total of four galleries now participate in the Arts Hop and stagger their hours so that there is always someplace to visit between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. that day.
