Batik on Paper with Carrie Greer
Batik on Paper is waxing and coloring and embellishing a design you create on paper. I teach it with a TJAP stamp that is dipped in paraffin heated to a degree of 220.
The TJAP is printed on a paper of your choice. I use rice paper and brown paper bag paper. Repeatedly stamp and color with watercolor, drying between applications of color and wax. (hairdryer) Following the final application wax is ironed out of your creation between sheets of newspaper. Now it’s time to embellish with colors and whatever your imagination can come up with. Tools I like for embellishing: metallic pencils, favorite markers, pens, glitter, etc. Turn it into mixed media, the sky’s the limit.
