The Doña Ana Arts Council is once again collaborating with the Santa Fe Opera this summer to bring Opera Storytellers to the Mesilla Valley. This two week camp will be held from June 3-14, 2019. Christa Fredrickson from Centennial High School and Jim Billings from the NMSU Department of Theater will be presenting the camp this year. The camp is open to students from the 3rd-12th grades. The students will use the elements of opera to compose and perform their own musical drama based on the Hero’s Journey. This year’s camp will include the technical aspects of lighting and sound as well as set and costume design. No previous experience is required; only a willingness to learn and have fun. For applications and more information go to DAArts.org or call 575-523-6403.
